Benoît Dubuisson

Composer, multi-instrumentist and producer




Passionate by music and sound, Benoît Dubuisson's first guitar notes rang during his childhood in the 70's, echoing the progressive rock bands of the time. As a teen, he already experiments with sounds and other types of instruments and starts composing and multi-track recording. In the late 80's, He takes active part as composer and multi-instrumentalist with several rock, fusion and experimental bands.

Classical guitar graduate from Cegep St-Laurent, Benoît also studied arrangement, composition, actual and electroacoustic music. In 1990, he became laureate of "Prix d'Expression Musicale au Collégiale" for Cegep St-Laurent, and a few months after, got first in his category in the Canadian Music Competition.

After his studies, he goes traveling to deepen his musical culture. Between 1990 and 1998, he stays in over fifty countries on all five continents, playing with local musicians and appearing in concert whenever possible. His interest for traditional music brings him to India in 1995, where he studied Indian classical music basics and Sitar with guru Sri Bahyalal in Varanazi.

Back in Montreal, he puts together his own recording studio, BoOoM Studios, and produces several albums out of which La Porte de Jax and specially Garg (from throat singing band Globe Glotters), acclaimed by both public and medias, and nominated for two MIMI's in 2005.

Active stageman, Benoît Dubuisson gave several hundreds concerts, solo and with ensembles. Many of his performances have been broadcast on radio and television in Europe and North America.

For the last years, Benoît teaches guitar and bass, and acts as composer, multi-instrumentist and producer with bands Corrigan Fest, Limpid Green and There Will Be No Light.
